Gluten-free ordering: questions to ask
A gluten-free ingredient list and a suitable restaurant preparation process are separate checks.

Start with the restaurant’s current statement
Look for the restaurant’s published information for the exact dish. A lettuce wrap, rice bowl or bunless burger can still include ingredients or sauces that need checking. Do not assume that a name or a removed bun establishes suitability.
Discuss shared equipment
Ask about fryers, grills, toasters, utensils and preparation areas. If you have celiac disease or another medical requirement, follow your clinician’s guidance and explain the requirement clearly to restaurant staff. An online list cannot verify the preparation of your individual meal.
Check branch and portion differences
Regional recipes, suppliers and substitutions can differ. A national page may not describe a limited-time product or local substitution. Confirm at the restaurant on the day.
