Browsing and hosting
The site is hosted on Netlify and uses Supabase for its database. These service providers process requests and may retain technical logs such as IP addresses, timestamps and request details for hosting, reliability and security. We do not use advertising trackers. Optional Google Analytics is described below.
Optional analytics cookies
If you accept analytics, we load Google Analytics (measurement ID G-Z2SLB1EJEK) to measure use of public pages and broad referral sources. Google receives technical request information and uses _ga cookies to distinguish browsers. Analytics cookies are set with a 180-day lifetime. Advertising storage, Google signals and ad personalization are disabled. We do not load the Google tag before acceptance or after you decline.
Your cookie choice
Accept analytics and Decline analytics are equally available in our privacy popup. We store your choice on this device for 180 days using local storage. Use Cookie settings in the footer to change it at any time. Declining after acceptance disables analytics, removes accessible Google Analytics cookies for this site and reloads the page. All site features work without analytics.
Information excluded from analytics
Analytics does not load on pages with query strings, saved selections, search pages, correction forms, API endpoints or general calculator routes. Page URLs sent to analytics exclude query strings and fragments, and recognized search-engine referrals are reduced to their public origin. We do not intentionally send search terms, coordinates, correction text, email addresses or saved meals to Google Analytics.
Saved items and your meal
Shortlists and meal-builder selections are saved in your browser’s local storage. They are not associated with a CompareMenus account and do not synchronize to our database. Use the clear buttons or clear your browser’s site data to remove them.
Location search
If you choose “Use my location” and grant browser permission, your coordinates are sent to our search endpoint to find nearby restaurant records. We do not add those coordinates to a user profile or intentionally retain a location history. The request may appear in hosting logs. You can use a city or ZIP-code search instead.
Correction submissions
We store the page URL, correction text, optional evidence URL and optional email you submit in a private database table. A daily salted hash derived from the request IP helps limit abuse; the raw IP is not stored in the correction record. Submissions are used to review accuracy and, if you provide an email, may support clarification. Do not submit sensitive personal information.
External services and links
Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives the usual web request information. Following a restaurant, map or agency link takes you to that provider and its own privacy practices. We do not embed third-party advertising or social-media widgets.
Privacy requests
Use the correction form and identify your request as a privacy request. If it concerns a submission, provide enough information to locate it without sharing unnecessary sensitive details. We will review requests to access or remove information we control. Technical logs may be subject to provider retention policies.
